Changes to tuck shop billing
In order to streamline our billing to our camp families, the camp fee includes all normal tuck shop purchases. This will include all snack and beverage items obtained from the Tuck Shop, as well as replacement toiletries such as a toothbrush, toothpaste, soap and shampoo.
Laundry service for campers, as well as a Camp Timberlane t-shirt will continue to be included in our fee.
Bus and baggage charges, as well as prescriptions or medical expenses will remain as extra charges due to the discretionary nature of these services or items.
Spending Money
At Camp Timberlane there is no need for campers to bring money to camp. However there are occasional opportunities or outings a camper may wish some of their own spending money.
In addition flashlights, batteries and film are not included in tuck. We will have a limited supply on hand for purchase.
The following are the suggested amounts to be arranged as available on account. Most children will not exceed these guidelines and many (especially young campers) will not use this at all. Our aim at Timberlane is to keep these to an essential minimum.
2 week camper - $50.00
4 week camper - $100.00
Full Season camper - $100.00
CITs - $150.00
If payment is made by cheque, please provide us with either a Visa or Mastercard to facilitate any potential expenditures by your child. A detailed statement will be provided to you of all expenditures.
Where do I find Transportation & Baggage Info?
This information will be posted at a later date. Please check back in May 2010.
How is the food at Camp?
We know from over 52 years of camp experiences what food campers enjoy. Our menus balance children’s likes with nutritious foods, which include lots of salads and fresh fruits. We believe that delicious, nutritious food is the cornerstone of a happy camp.
There are three main meals at camp along with 2 snack periods. All meals are served buffet style with the exception of Shabbot Dinner on Fridays.
Breakfast is served beginning at 8:00 am. Breakfasts include assorted cereals, toast, fruit, yogurt, pancakes, waffles, hot chocolate, freshly squeezed juices, eggs, sausage, oatmeal, hash browns, English muffins etc..
Lunch is served daily at 12:00 noon. Our lunch menus include hamburgers, hot dogs, grilled cheese, chicken nuggets, pizza, chicken burgers, tacos, deli sandwiches, pastas, dairy sandwiches, French fries, soups, assorted salads etc..
Dinner is served at 6:00 pm for our Voyageur Unit and 6:30 pm for our C de B Unit. Our dinner is themed regularly including Chinese, Mexican, American, Italian and camp favourites include Wing Night, Carved Beef and our Friday Night Shabbot Dinner.
Juice, water, tea, hot chocolate is always available.
At every lunch and dinner we offer an extensive salad bar. Our centre table buffet also has extra choices which help to meet the needs of anyone on a special or particular diet and even those children who may be “picky” eaters. Fresh fruits, salads and cut vegetables are readily available.
Our large lakeside BBQ sites are used daily for cook out lunches and dinners. Each day we also serve snacks in the afternoon at 4:00 pm and nightly at bedtime. Tuck is offered three times a week where children may choose a beverage (soda, bottled water or juice) and an edible item (assorted chocolate bar, chips, candy).
CAMP TIMBERLANE IS A PEANUT SENSITIVE CAMP. WE DO OUR ABSOLUTE BEST TO ENSURE THAT THERE ARE NO PEANUT PRODUCTS BROUGHT INTO CAMP. IT IS FOR THIS REASON THAT WE MUST INSIST THAT CAMPERS DO NOT BRING ANY FOOD TO CAMP WHAT SO EVER. WE APPRECIATE YOUR COOPERATION WITH THIS POLICY.
Food service at Camp is served KOSHER STYLE. We are capable of accommodating vegetarian, lactose free and other special dietary needs. Please contact us for more information.
What is your mail and parcel policy?
Parents are encouraged to write their children as much as possible. There is nothing more exciting for a camper than to receive letters from their parents, friends and relatives. You may take advantage of our one-way email system by clicking here.
The volume of parcels we are receiving daily has drastically increased the past few years, resulting in an overflow of "junk" mail to campers, and an increase of different delivery company trucks to our main camp road. We will not accept parcels & oversized envelopes sent to campers. If you need to send an important item to your child, please call the camp office to clear the acceptance of this article. Any item should be sent to the attention of "The Director" who will supervise the distribution to the camper.
Is my child eligible for the Optional Ski/Wakeboard Clinics?
The ski clinics are open to any campers who have reached the slalom, barefoot or advanced wakeboard level only. Each clinic consists of 7 extra instructional ski classes, which are held after dinner. The group is limited to 10-12 skiers who are taught from 3 boats. There will be 4 clinics offered in the summer and a camper may enroll in up to 3 clinics. CIT's are eligible to take the clinics if they wish.
I heard you have extra golf trips?
Due to keen interest in golf we will once again offer weekly trips to the local driving range as well as trips to various 9 hole courses in the Haliburton area. These trips are open to those campers who have already grasped the fundamentals of the game. The trips are designed to give avid players the chance to play while at camp. Players who are interested in this program must sign up prior to camp (a registration form will be sent to you in the spring), and these campers should bring golf clubs with them to camp. The clubs will be stored in the main office. Parents are billed only for the actual costs incurred; if a camper only goes once or twice, they are billed strictly for those trips. Depending on the course played, the average cost per trip is $30-$40.
What happens if my child gets sick or injured?
The health and well being of our campers and staff have the highest priorities at Timberlane. To ensure a high standard of medical attention, we have a full time doctor in residence, working with a staff of 3 nurses. Our six-bed infirmary is the centre of our health care. Clinics are held twice daily and emergencies are seen immediately. Further attention is available 15 minutes away at Haliburton Hospital, where our doctors have staff privileges during the summer months.
The health and safety of your child, receive our greatest focus of attention. We will notify and work closely with you on any matters of significant concern or special needs.
In March, we will be sending you a medical form, which must be completed, and returned to our office. There is also a copy of the medical form online: Health Form. In addition, we require a photocopy of each child's health card. This information is needed for lab tests (ie. throat swabs) or for an x-ray at the local hospital if a fracture is suspected.
Please note: CAMPERS WILL NOT BE PERMITTED ON THE BUS TO CAMP WITHOUT A COMPLETED HEALTH FORM AND PHOTOCOPY OF THEIR HEALTH CARD.
If you have any other questions/concerns, contact us directly by phone or fax and we'll be happy to help
What are your Visitor's Day policies?
In response to feedback from parents, we will have only ONE official Visiting Day. Since more than 70% of our campers stay for the entire summer & many parents travel long distances to and from camp and find 2 visits arduous, we will be having one Visiting Day on Saturday, July 24th.
Visiting Hours are from 10:30am - 3:00pm. Campers may leave camp with their parents during visiting hours only (Campers must be back at Camp by 3:00 pm). The Camp invites visitors to be our guest at our outdoor BBQ’s beginning at 11:30 am.
Activity Policy: Visitors are welcomed to watch their children water-ski, sail, canoe and kayak. Visitors may join their children fishing off our fishing dock or may take a tour of the lake on our pontoon boat. Land sports are open for everyone to enjoy. Extreme sports (rock climbing, ropes course, BMX course and skate park) are available during the scheduled times and only under the supervision of the specialty staff. Visitors are also welcomed to swim in the assigned Life guarded areas.
May I visit my child who is enrolled for the second 4 Weeks of the summer OR in the Panda Program?
Recognizing that parents will probably want to visit, especially new campers, Parents of Campers in these programs may visit on Saturday August 7th. We ask that you call us to let us know of your intended visit to ensure that your child will not be out of camp on a trip. Suggested visiting times are between 11:00 am - 3:00 pm. This day is open only to parents of August Campers or Panda 3 Campers.
Accommodation for Visiting Parents in the Haliburton Area
Some parents may wish to stay overnight in the area while visiting their children. Suitable accommodations are difficult to find. Resorts are understandably reluctant to take guests for a single night, especially on a Saturday, and thus lose the rest of the weekend's space. Please make sure you book your accommodations well in advance. The following is a short list of some of the accommodations available in the Haliburton area:
